“DUNKS FOR DREW”

Shippensburg, PA- The second annual “Dunks for Drew” will take place Jan. 31 in Heiges Field House at Shippensburg University.

The charity event showcases the talent of four local Varsity boys’ basketball teams in a double header to raise funds for the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation of Shippensburg.

Game times are as follows: 6 p.m. Scotland School for Veterans’ Children vs. Greencastle-Antrim High School; 7:30 p.m. Chambersburg High School vs. Shippensburg High School. The cost for admission is $5.00 and no passes will be accepted.

Employees of the participating school districts are eligible to win 4 luxury box seat tickets to a Hershey Bears hockey game. Signup sheets will be at the door, the drawing will take place at half time during the second game.

Last year’s “Dunks for Drew” raised $8,000 and afforded ongoing foundation projects including the Drew Michael Taylor Community Service Award; the Scotland School for Veterans' Children Camp Scholarship Incentive Program; Ready. Set. Go! a kindergarten readiness program; and the Drew's Hope grief and loss support program for children, teens and their families.

Randy and Marcie Taylor, created the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation in loving memory of their son, Drew, whose life was taken at age 3 in a tragic traffic accident in June 2006 while the family was vacationing.

The Taylor’s continued vision is to honor Drew’s memory by making a positive difference in the lives of children.

Future events include the third annual Shippensburg Area High School Alumni Basketball game on April 4 and Community night at Knute’s Pub and Grill, April 6.
