PR Internship with Drew Michael Taylor Foundation Summary

From December, 2008 through May, 2009, I was an intern for the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation of Shippensburg, PA. During those five months, I was primarily responsible for helping with various stages of event planning, creating new promotional materials, updating existing fliers and brochures, and manning the information tables at various programs and events as a representative for the foundation.

The Drew Michael Taylor Foundation is a private, non-profit organization created in 2006 by Randy and Marcie Taylor after the loss of their son, Drew. They are busy year round with projects honoring Drew’s memory and helping children in need. They achieve this vision with monetary donations, help from friends, family, and support of volunteers. The foundation has created various programs including grief and loss support groups, scholarships, awards, recreational and educational opportunities for families of the community. It’s really quite amazing.

Buffet Fundraiser Poster

I organized a community fundraiser in June 2009 at Pizza Hut in Shippensburg for my internship with the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation. I created this poster to distribute in town and at the restaurant to promote the local organization.

Harrisburg Senators Game

This flier was created for the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation website. The Harrisburg Senators game featured the foundation as the Community Organization of the game in May 2009.

Dunks for Drew

In planning for the January event, I sent media reminders to local newspapers and television stations, created and distributed this flier, for which I won third place (Public Relations category) for submission in the Spring 2009 CoJo Awards at Shippensburg University.
