Independent Beauty Consultant Skills Summary

Since October 2008, I’ve managed my own direct sales business with Mary Kay Cosmetics (while attending college full-time). In doing so, I’ve gained valuable organization and time management skills, communication skills and sales experience.

Utilizing product knowledge is essential when demonstrating skincare and make-up application tips during appointments and skincare classes. Presentation skills, uncovering customer’s needs, listening, and overcoming objections are an important part of the sales process.

Maintaining quality customer service is also necessary in order to keep customers. Phone etiquette, verbal and written communication skills are used to interact, write thank you’s, send E-cards, and make phone calls to follow-up with customers after consultations and purchases.

I’ve used technical writing and computer design skills to create promotional materials. Computer programs used include Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Word,  and Excel. Samples of my work are titled:

Variations of this flier were placed at an information table at Sovereign bank to promote an Open House event at my residence. This was also distributed via mail as an invitation to friends and family. (Click on image for a larger view.)

Cosmetics Graveyard Postcard

I utilized Adobe InDesign to create this postcard. I mailed it to my Mary Kay customers for a Halloween promotion. (Click on the image for a larger view.)

Mary Kay Fundraiser

This is a fundraiser I created for use in my personal Mary Kay business. The form with product descriptions and images was made in Adobe InDesign. The Order Sheet is an Excel document. The first successful use of these forms sold $481 worth of Mary Kay product and raised $240 for Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority at Shippensburg University. (Click on images for a larger view.)
